Same Sex Divorce in Alabama

One of the new trends across the United States is same sex marriage. Some states recognize these unions, while others – like Alabama – do not. When a same sex couple gets married out of state where the union is recognized, that marriage is not always recognized back at home. There is a growing trend of same sex couples wanting to get divorced, but they are unable to do so in their home state. Alabama is one state that does not recognize any form of same sex marriage, so there is no same sex divorce. This can pose a great problem if a same sex couple becomes unhappily married because they do not meet the residence requirements in the state they were married in to also be divorced there. One recent article touches on this issue in an article by Alan Collins with Fox 6 news. The article can be found by clicking here.
