Link Between Daughters & Divorce

In an article published by the Huffington Post called "Study Offers Explanation for Link Between Daugthers and Divorce," Rebecca Adams comments on the latest trend. Science has recognized that marriages that have first born daughters are more likely to end in divorce than if the first born child is a son. There is a new study by Amar Hamoudi and Jenna Nobles found a different potential cause for this pattern. They found that female fetuses have a better chance of surviving to full term in a stressful pregnancy such as when the woman is in a rocky marriage. The article doesn't prove causation but it does state that scientists need to look from fertilization not just from birth for some of the studies linking the sex of a child to the potential for divorce.
